How to replace audi key an audi a1 key fob G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located at the edge of transmission, above the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU via a grey wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 through the grey wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu has to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the location of the camshaft in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate a chain stretch or a jumped chain link in the upper chain of timing. However, the code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit challenging since there are two pins for the connector and they serve different purposes but the most effective way to test it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is functional, it should read approximately 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this part, check for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, i experienced massive power loss as if the engine was running out of gas or injectors aren't firing at all. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, three were soaked with gazoline and the fourth one was dry. I placed a tissue over each hole in the injector and when i start the engine with no sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The fourth one remains shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 i get zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car is able to start if the G28 is unplugged and it runs perfectly when it is connected but it still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c even when i unplug it. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I don't know what to do. I think I've eliminated everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Please let me know if you have any ideas! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate an extra in a wrecking shop or parts store. Testing them is easy by putting your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's end up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black connector's end). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that needs to know the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injector, for example. To accomplish this, it uses a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you are experiencing issues with either one of these, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could cause an engine shutdown.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate gearbox speed counter or a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, or a misfire in the gear. If you are experiencing any of these issues it is likely your sensor is deteriorating and requires replacement audi a3 key. The good news is that they are very affordable and easy to find particularly if you're looking at a Bosch model, which is what ours are. Alternatively, the GM version of this unit is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine speed sensor could be the reason behind many issues in your vehicle. It is a crucial part of your audi car key cover's transmission, as it sends information to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is spinning. This sensor could cause the transmission to malfunction and other components in the car to be affected.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It sends an electrical signal through an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU then uses and processes the signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost, programming audi Key and also sends it on to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can check continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. You should see an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these two points. This is a standard part across the audi key Replacement cost 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones might be availble in wrecking yards.
