How to replace audi key fob an new audi keys G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission over the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via a grey wire (T55/49) and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor audi key Fob Replacement is used as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate the possibility of a chain stretch or jumped chain link in the upper chain of timing. The code won't appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It's a bit tricky to test since there are several connector pins, and each has its own functions. The most effective method to test it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is operating at its maximum. Examine for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if there are problems with this part.

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll, I experienced massive power loss like the engine is running out of gas or injectors are not firing any more. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, 3 were drenched in gazoline, the fourth one was dry. When I crank the engine, there are no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th stay shut. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found zero ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car is able to start when the G28 is unplugged and it runs perfectly when it is connected however it has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even if it is not plugged in, shows a temperature of -49c. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I'm not certain what to do, but i believe that i've ruled out everything else. But i am afraid I may have missed something. Please let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or from a parts store. It is easy to test them - just switch your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing up). They should be infinite Ohms.

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of fuel injectors, etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you encounter a problem with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will show the codes that could trigger an engine shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a malfunctioning G28 sensor include an inaccurate gearbox rev counter, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or misfiring when you're in gear. It is likely that the sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you notice any of these signs. The good news is that they are very affordable and readily available, especially in the case of an Bosch sensor, which is what ours are. You can also choose the GM version of this unit is also a good choice.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine speed sensor could be a cause for a slew of problems in your vehicle. It's an essential component of your replacement audi car key's transmission, because it communicates to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is rotating. If the sensor fails, it could affect the performance of the transmission as well as the other car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this signal to control the flow of fuel and boost and also to timigrate. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see the resistance to be around 1000 ohms between these two points. This part is common across the Audi Key Replacement Cost Uk 80-100-200-RS2 range, from the 1985 MC up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 DU You may also find them in wrecking yards.
