It transmits a signal to the ECU through an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is located at the edges of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can activate spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails the ECU will show an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and could indicate the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. The code won't appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing is a bit challenging since there are two connector pins, and they have different functions but the best way to test it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is operational, it should be reading about 1000 ohms. If you're experiencing issues with this component, look for evidence of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, I experienced a big cut in power as if the engine was running out of gas or injectors aren't firing any more. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, 3 were drenched in gazoline, the 4th one was dry. When I start the engine without sparks, i place a tissue on top of each injector hole, the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th stay shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I think the issue is in another location.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor.
